Book Meme

Lex has tagged me for this one. I'm sure I could have given a totally different set of answers, and they would be right, too.

1. ONE BOOK THAT CHANGED YOUR LIFE?

Dictionary. I used to read it for hours at a time when I was a child. I have always loved words.

2. ONE BOOK YOU HAVE READ MORE THAN ONCE?

The Little Prince by Antoine de St.Exupery and The Smile at the Foot of the Ladder by Henry Miller. Both lifelong favorites.

3. ONE BOOK YOU WOULD WANT ON A DESERT ISLAND?

A thick pad of yellow cap and many pens

4. ONE BOOK THAT MADE YOU LAUGH?

Portnoy's Complaint by Philip Roth

5. ONE BOOK THAT MADE YOU CRY?

The Pearl by John Steinbeck and Black Beauty by Anna Sewell.

6. ONE BOOK YOU WISH HAD BEEN WRITTEN?

Enlightenment For Dummies

7. ONE BOOK YOU WISH HAD NEVER BEEN WRITTEN?

The Roadkill Cookbook

8. ONE BOOK YOU ARE CURRENTLY READING?

The Gentle Order of Girls and Boys by Dao Strom

9. ONE BOOK YOU HAVE BEEN MEANING TO READ?

Teach Yourself Japanese

10. ONE BOOK YOU'RE GLAD YOU OWN?

Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston

11. ONE BOOK THAT MUST BE READ ALOUD?
Leo the Late Bloomer by Robert Kraus

Katrice,

You and I were separated at birth.

Urchin,

Great job! Interesting choices.

Michael,

I'm waiting. :)

d~,

Who you callin' Shorty, Missy?
I'm a tall person traveling incognito.

Oh, thank you for complying!!

I have to agree with the dictionary. I still enjoy reading it from time to time.

I really need to read The Little Prince. I don't know how I got by that one in school. It is on the list of must reads before the year is out. Thanks.

Roadkill Cookbook? Nice.

The Gentle Order sounds great too. Let me know what you think when you're done.

I need to find a way to keep a rolling book suggestion space on my blog. I'm pretty random. I love bargains, so I read what's cheap most of the time and I unfortunately have afforded myself far too little fiction.

I'll catch up.

Thanks! Feel free to do a "do-over" with your other accurate responses. :-)

Lex,

But of course. My pleasure.

These days I buy most of my books at the library book bay. I compile a wanted list from various book club mailings and then look for them there at a few bucks a pop, no s&h. And I love Amazon.com. too.

I confess I made up The Roadkill Cookbook. :(

Lex,

I just added pictures to this naked post.

I wonder what pops up in the Pop-Up Potty book. I'm just saying...

haha - enlightment for dummies would be super useful! :)

Lee,

Yes, I've often wished for such a book.

Thanks for coming by!

Lex,

They would have us think so. I dunno. What do YOU think, Angel?

My heart,

Me, too!! The book is charming and so very wise. I especially love the parts about the rose and the fox. Well, all of it really. It's a very cherishable book.
