It's obscene how high they are. It seems we no longer have the resources to maintain the standard of living to which we've become addicted.
Nihilistic,
A guy with a Ferrari (red, of course) lives in my neighborhood. He leaves it running at meters on Chestnut Street, jumps out of the convertible top and goes about his business. I guess if you can afford a Ferrari, gas consumption is not an issue.
I kinda hope gas prices keep going up... at some point politicians are going to *have* to grasp the fact that filling the air with car exhaust is not only destroying the environment, it's destroying their constituents' pocketbooks, and there are cleaner and cheaper ways to run our society, if we'd only pour some measly amount of money into the appropriate R&D. As it is, Congress is owned by Big Oil...
Of course, I wish that money wasn't the only thing in this world that talked. Stupid American corporate capitalism.
Ugh- I hate your small weenied ferrari neighbor as well- what a poser! As much as I adore the marina I can not stand the self entitled trust fund babies who seem to invade the place. Not sure how you cope.
One of the best things about moving to the NYC area is the public transportation. It rocks so much harder than BART as you probably remember....
When I talk to friends in the oil industry, they always say there is a huge amount of oil in reserves.
When you listen to the politicians, there is never enough oil.
Personally, I think it's time we all go on electric power and use solor panels to generate energy and sell that energy back to the electric company. Screw big oil companies and their politicians.
Wow Heart, you really got me on a good rant... Thanks!!!

Those are hilarious. And they're starting to look more plausible as the gas prices rise.
Funny how at the car show we kept looking at the MPG on all the stickers and thinking to ourselves...WTF?? 16 MPG here, 14 MPG there...
Thinker,

I hate him.
The last photo looks like a dildo with wings.
Or maybe that's just me.
That's about where we're heading isn't it? Sheesh!

Mist,
Hmmm. How long have you been feeling this way?
Skittles,
Maybe we'll all finally learn to teleport ourselves.
Thank you for your visit!
Law Fairy,
You're assuming politicians give a damn. Never makes assumptions, especially that one.
Odat,
Batteryman. DadadadadaBATTERYMAN.
Urchin,
Yes, we do have our share of Trustafarians here. There seems to be a special sense of entitlement among those who never worked for what they have.
Wait a minute! I thought I heard gas prices were going down????
Ah hell....
Christina,
They did, briefly, here. Now they're up again. Maybe it's better in Michigan? Nah, probably not.

It's a shame. Who do we complain to?
Olives,
It's a Good Rant, though. I agree that we need to get serious about utilizing alternative energy sources, and not just using them for political fodder.
But those in power don't care about what happens after they, personally, die. (Which most of them should, quickly and painfully.)
Katrice,
Good point. The politicians are getting a lot of currency out of the oil situation, but none of them seems to be looking for a solution.
We'll all be walking soon.
