It's Gotta Be a Sign

While passing the San Francisco Lighthouse for the Blind today, I noticed gigantic braille symbols on the front of the concrete building at third story level. They looked like a bas relief frieze.

Who, exactly, is able to read this? A blind person the size of Goliath on a scaffold? I don't want to think about it.

This is the kind of logic that makes clothing stores arrange their smallest sizes on the highest racks where short people can't reach them.

A few blocks further, at Bush Street, there was a stop sign which, from a certain delicious angle, spelled out "Stop Bush." I think it could catch on.

I'm thinking of going out with a sign that says "Will work for shoes." I'm still wearing flip flops due to a recent incident with a gas pump nozzle, but I love shoes. And someday I may be able to wear them again. I can wear ONE right now. My glass is half-full.

Those damn gas pumps. The nozzles somtimes just jump out and nail you, don't they?

Well, not really. :)

Thanks for sopping by my blog, by the way. Hope you got a chuckle or two.

No, not really. :( Unless they have help. I posted about this in mid-August, My To-Die List. I'm still mad and it's getting too cold for bare feet.

Your blog is great! I'll be back.

Excellent and acute observations. I truly believe we find epiphanies and revelations as you describe. In the park where I walk, faded on a paved drive were the words "go slow" -- or something like that. It's faded now. I haven't seen it in a while. Did I just stop seeing it?

Sign's are all around us.

Sometimes we're fortunate enough to actually notice them, especially when going 70 through a 45mph zone...

And with a half full glass you can still get buzzed. Cheers!

Ephemerist,

Perhaps you're just going too fast.

Michael,

You have a point. And many speeding tickets, no doubt.

Christina,

Half a buzz is better than none.

Odat,

You wear glass slippers? I knew there was something about you!

Hearts in SF,
Yes, going to fast, I don't stop and observe. Thanks for stopping by at my blog (I agree with Sister Mary Martha: sounds like something Grandma was going to force you to eat and you can't hide it under the napkin). BTW, I'm a fan of the SF Giants since before they moved there! Go Jints!

I went too fast (not to fast) in my previous comment: "to" should be "too," and it should read: "the word blog sounds like something..." I couldn't let this go; it's the editor-persnickety-perfectionist-ex-English teacher in me.

I'm glad you're not going to fast. Just the thought of it makes me hungry.

The Giants and I are both from New York originally. I was a Dodger fan as a kid, though, because I was enchanted with Jackie Robinson.

Maybe you could start a trend of mismatched shoes -- throw the fashion world for a loop ;)

The "stop Bush" sign cracks me up. I've seen stop signs that have been vandlized to add the word "Bush" to the bottom, but it's not quite the same as when the government does it, itself.

Mr. Blackwell, here I come. A shoe at a time.

If I go out late at night to do a bit of tagging for Arnold, will you represent me? (It could take awhile - such a long name to fit on a sign, and I might get caught.)

Stop Bush...we need that sign for real.

Gee, you think?
