A Sad Tale With No Ending

I need an html doctor who makes house calls. I tried to add links to my favorite sites, but when posted, they all ran together with the http:// etc. info. After many tries, I deleted them but by then I had managed to lose my previous posts list. While tampering with that, I dislodged my archives. After hours of trial-and-error cutting and pasting, I have determined that there is no way to restore the original default templates if you don't know what the hieroglyphics mean. I had one lousy word stranded above my profile, which I was unable to delete, so I deleted the most recent post. Good idea, no? Well, NO. The next one immediately split off some of its title and placed it above my profile.

I am in html Hell, people. What is more, the geniuses who created Blogger, and I don't mean that sarcastically, are alas, unintelligible to illiterati like me.

I'm going down for the third time.

Okay, perhaps this will help. Start a new blog just for practice and experimentation. Use the same template. Then copy and print the template information. Compare it to what you have now and you'll get an idea of where things should be.

Your link section, for example, will be roughly 6/7 of the way through. You can find that and then recopy the code to your template here.

I'm crossing my fingers.

Let me know how it's working, cuz I'd be glad to help you try to figure it out.

d, THANK YOU! You're an angel. It occurred to me that I should start a new blog with the same template and try to copy everything from my present one into it, but your idea is much better.

kind of prophetic, posting that image. html is a lot like Oz if you don't speak the language. and wrestling with it endlessly is ike being in a tornedo.

And HTML often makes me exclaim, "If I only had a brain!"

This is terribly humbling. I have 3 links now which don't go to the intended blogs but into the bowels of html.

Would it have killed them to just use English in the template? I'm out of both my comfort zone and my patience. And I'd gladly settle for even half a brain.

I did get the other problems cleared up, though, with your much-appreciated help.

So: Is all quiet on the home front tonight? No trick or treaters running amok?

Just hang in there, H. You're making progress. Besides that, what you write is far more important than your links.

All quiet on the western front for now.

I really thought it was just me - I can't get my links to show up so I'm unable to point you great guys out to my visitors. I followed the instructions - duh - nothing.

d~ had a great idea - I think I'll try it too.
