Spring is in the Air

As I walked out on the sidewalk today, I saw two pairs of legs lying on the steps to the next-door building. The two top feet pointed down, the bottom two, up.

How very strange, I thought. I wonder if two kids are fighting. I walked over to have a closer look.

The person on top, the very young person on top, about 14, maybe, had his pants down below his butt and seemed to be kissing the person beneath him, whose arms were around his neck.

Well, good. They weren't fighting. Although it must have been quite painful for the person who was lying directly on concrete stairs. It was impossible to tell whether that person was male or female.

I clicked the garage door open and got into my car.

By the time I had warmed it up and backed out, the steps were empty.

"Did I hallucinate?" I asked Flip.

"No, they were there," he said.

"Oh."

"It's spring."

It was 2 o'clock in the afternoon. This is a quiet residential street, a few blocks from San Francisco Bay.

As we drove away, we passed the building on our other side. There was a teenaged couple, boy and girl, having stand-up sex in the entryway. They were about the same height. I saw that both had dropped their pants, which looked familiar.

This time, the girl was pressed against the mailboxes.

She probably has some interesting designs imprinted on her butt.

At least I didn't have to get out the hose.

Maybe I should have left the garage open.

Chani,

It's a rough job, but somebody's got to do it.

ahhh young love/lust. I can remember the time when I was at hoover dam ... and misplaced my underwear. yes, young and stupid. been there, done that.

I'm sorry hearts but I think I would have chosen to do "Operation Coitus Interuptus" and told them off for a) the public display, b) isn't the age illegal? c) probably having no protection. Young sex so often leads to life long regrets. Telling them off may stop them for now but they will certainly get back to it as soon as our backs are turned, so it is also important to explain to them the risks and counsel them to be more responsible for themselves and their partner. I don't think I could just ignore it. I would feel that I didn't stop them going down a ruinous path when I could have done so.

Whoa - since we have a few inches of new snow on the ground, I don't think I'll be seeing any of that around here for awhile!

Thank you. This post made my day.

Aren't these kids supposed to be in school?

furiousBall said...

holy crap, now that is a prime opportunity for a drive-by water ballooning.

LittlePea said...

OH! Sorry I thought it would be ok to do that in your garage...ooops! Won't happen again! :)

I knew San Francisco could be a randy town, I just didn't realize how much so.
No, it was on a tiny island not far from here, and nobody else was around but she and me. Do the girls in question wonder if they'll be 'respected' in the morning, let alone later in the afternoon?
Ah, springtime, as you say.

At least they are not fighting. I love that though. And I love that you thought about the interesting imprint on that young girls butt.

Wow, loving in an entryway and on some conrete stairs. Damn lucky kids.

Eslocura,

Hoover Dam. Hmmm. Must be a really sexy place.

Squirrel,

I think my presence served to interruptus them. Until I was out of sight.

I was frankly quite shocked at the sight. This is far from a "bad" neighborhood.

They certainly do need counseling, but a scolding from a stranger is no match for runaway hormones. They would simply have gone somewhere else.

Olives,

Ulp.

Pendullum,

Yeah, no flowers and candy for that lad. What a way to woo a lady fair.

Qt,

This isn't exactly the tropics, but apparently, that didn't matter.

Hel,

Sorry your day is going so poorly, then.

Katie,

Probably. School is also no match for hormones.

Thanks for coming by.

Furious,

I actually had my camera with me, but was too stunned to think of using it.

Sweet Pea,

Was it good for you, too, honey?

Ian,

Did you ever see the Mike Nichols and Elaine May skit of two teenagers in the backseat of a car?

She says, 'You won't respect me if I do."

And he says, "I will. I'll respect you like crazy."

Thomas,

I do hope it doesn't end badly for those young, stupid kids. I know teenagers are having sex. But what I can't get over is, did they think they were invisible?

Gee, where did they think they were, school? (sarcastic reference to those 5th graders last week or whenever)

Spring in Philadelphia used to be like that for some reason... it was like the whole city was in heat and you could feel it in the air. Then again, people went indoors for that kind of thing back then. How times have changed.

Kirsty,

You are too kind. Thank you for your visit, and a continuing welcome to America.

I just bookmarked your blog, which looks exactly like my cup of tea, to peruse leisurely when I get back from my appointment this morning.

Velvet,

Indoors is good. In public doorways, not so.

And to think that when I was young in Paris, I had never before seen people KISS in public. I was enchanted with the freedom of it.

We've come a long way, baby .

Holy crap! That was very ballsey of them, pun intended. lol

Open Grove Claudia said...

You are so brave. I usually make a choking squeal and look quickly away.

What did you and Flip do after watching said young love? Enquiring minds....

heartinsanfrancisco said...

Cece,

No kidding! I couldn't believe it. I did not see the actual moving parts, thankfully, but could surmise what was going on.

Claudia,

You "usually"... so this kind of thing happens all the time around you? Hmmmm.

Well, we drove off and had lunch in the Haight, then did an errand in Noe Valley, both districts other than the Marina, where we live.

When the coast was clear, we returned home.

meno said...

You didn't rush inside to find the camera so you could take pictures for us?

heartinsanfrancisco said...

Meno,

See comment above to Furiousball. I had my camera with me, but forgot I was holding it.

I'm sure you can understand.

Was that you? It was, wasn't it?

Why didn't you say something?

(How are your butt piercings?)

Yinyang,

But I AM scarred for life. You just can't see the scars from there.

You came back!! :)

Right before we moved out to the East Coast, we were driving home up the top of Market St right before it curves by Twin Peaks and there was a gay couple with pants around ankles, in the street going at it. My first reaction was to turn around and make sure that the kids were asleep.

I know some people get off on having other people watch them do it but it's disconcerting.

You see this is why people need to walk around with pails of cold water. You just never know what hormonally inflamed teenager you're going to run across who needs a bit of hydrotherapy.

Joan said...

Your blog reminded me why San Francisco is one of my favorite cities to visit...there's so much to see. ;~)
Love your blog.

heartinsanfrancisco said...

Urchin,

They must have been listening to the Beatles' song, "Do It In the Road."

Such exhibitionism is bizarre. And I'm still puzzling over the kids I saw. Teenage hormonal overdrive I understand, but did they really believe that no one would see them?

Today I noticed other junior high-aged kids nearby and glanced at the car clock. It was 1:30, so maybe school lets out earlier than I thought.

Stewart,

Hydrotherapy. If they're in front of my house, I can get my hands on a hose pretty quickly. But only if they're tied. And barking.

heartinsanfrancisco said...

Joan,

Well, I'm not sure you'll see this in the tourist guides, but maybe from a cable car. Or in front of my house.

Thank you for coming by.

14?! I know they do it at that age but I never get over the shock. Its the conservative streak in me I suppose (and a thin one it is at that) But I would have gone back inside and got a bucket of water..*wonders off still in shock*

katrice said...

Unbelievable!

heartinsanfrancisco said...

Judith,

They may have been 16. I didn't ask, you know.

But still.... I am in disbelief, too.

Katrice,

Ditto. Mamas, lock up your daughters. (And your sons.)
