OPEN LETTER TO DIRTBAG

WHO KEEPS COMMENTING TO MY BLOG POSTS WITH LINKS TO:

xlpharmacy, online pharmacy, viagra online, pharmacy, generic viagra, xl pharmacy, best pharmacy, pharmacy reviews, Omar Suarez, Samrx, levitra cialis and levitracialis.

I'm sure you think you're clever writing comments in your extremely limited English, but real people do not link to pharmaceuticals, at least in my world. I am on to you.

I have painstakingly deleted every one of your comments on posts going back two years, and will continue to delete any you make here. I have also traced your IP address and reported your activities to Blogger. What you are doing amounts to harassment, stalking and even persecution and you need to stop now. If you do not, I will have you arrested. I am serious. STOP. NOW.

What I have done in the spambot situation is to turn on comment moderation temporarily. That usually drives them away.

Agent, I was going to do that but got distracted. Thanks for the reminder.

I use a blogger feature that requires my approval on any comments for a post that is over a week old. Works like a charm.

Hearts,

Don't approve my previous comment. I wanted to see if you had the word verification on. I don't remember if you had it on or not. If you didn't have it on, it allows robot driven spam in your comments. It is a slight PIA to your followers who are posting legitimate comments. If you didn't have it on, try it, it may eliminate the problem without you having to approve the comments. Go to Design, Settings, Comments. Scroll almost to the bottom of the screen and click the radio button under Word Verification. When a reader goes to post a comment, they will have to type in a nonsense string of letters. I just turned mine off, to make it simpler to post but if I get any spam, I'll turn it back on.

I'm so sorry that with all you have on your plate you must also deal with this. I've used comment moderation as a deterrent and it seems to be working. Good luck.

Meno,

I just adjusted it to older than 30 days since I'm not posting very often right now.

Sextant,

I did have word verification but it seems like overkill with comment approval, too. Periodically I've installed it after a round of bot spam, but the person who is tormenting me today is actually making comments, with a link to his many drug selling sites.

e,

I couldn't agree with you more! Flip is in the hospital since Saturday and I'm very upset. Normally I would take in stride someone pooping on my blog, but those comments were the last straw.

Out of curiosity how do you trace an IP...and some jail time probably would be good for the fool.

Mark,

I'll send you details.

Good for you tackling this idiot firmly. I get the odd spam comment advertising something but not to the same extent as your stalker.

Meno - Thanks for that tip, I didn't realise that option existed. I shall use it if necessary.

I'm sorry to hear that Flip is in the hospital. Shoot.

I'm glad you aren't going the word verification route if you don't have to. I HATE word verification.

I totally moderate comments. Some of the ones I get are plain not well. People who need to express petty, mean or stupid things should have their own blogs, not others' to do that on.

Go get 'em Hearts!!!

HA!!! Bad guys beware!!

:D

Nick,

I always delete comments that are ruses to bring people to their sites.

Tara,

Thank you. Yeah, shoot.

Agent,

I use it reluctantly only when I get spam bots.

Maria,

People who have petty, mean or stupid things to say should not be saying them to you.

I get shitloads of those on Wordpress, too. I have never taken any other step than to delight. They seem to be less worried about my virility these days. Kind of hurts. Probably SAW's advice is the best one.

Dang it. And here I was hoping to get my nonexistent phallus enlarged.

heartinsanfrancisco said...

Ian,

"Delight?" Do tell. I am less imaginative than you -- I just delete.

Tanya,

I get those all the time, despite like you, not having a unisex name. They really need to revise their business plan and figure out who their target audience is, and isn't.

If I didn't have comment moderation,my blog stalker would comment dozens of times per post on what a creep she thinks that I am.

But, she visits roughly 40 times PER day.

Gives me the total creeps.

Oops. Of course, Susan the intended word was 'delete', so excuse the Freudian. Though it does conjure up some interesting thoughts.

Maria,

Is she still at it then? Lucky you don't have any geographic details in evidence. Some people are incredibly messed up.

Ian,

Of course it does. Conjure away.
